A business woman is hoping to swap flip charts for the pop charts as she battles through a talent competition.

Becky Payne, 27, from Isleworth, spends her days as an account manager for a hotel company, but dreams of being a full time musician and has got through to the regional finals of Open Mic UK, a singing competition with a £50,000 prize.

She said: "I found out about this competition after searching on the internet, I have always loved singing and now I just want to get my songs into the public."

The late bloomer only found her voice at college, having concentrated more on acting, but quickly discovered her vocals were her strongest asset.

She said: "I've entered quite a few talent competitions, and I won a regular slot at the Windsor Castle pub in Hounslow after winning their competition called The Winz Factor."

Becky failed to get passed the audition stage at Open Mic UK last year, but credits her success this year on time spent writing and performing her own material.

The competition gives entrants the opportunity to perform live in front of industry Judges from National Radio, BBC Introducing and Regional Press Celebrity Judges and Becky beat of thousands of hopefuls to get through to this stage.

She added: "It's great the support I have been getting. I grew up in Hayes so I have a lot of support there, and my partner has been great. I just want to get my name out there and to get as many people as possible behind me."

"Yes, it's optimistic but I genuinely believe I am ready and have the confidence and talent to do it."

The Regional Finals for the London region will take place at The Beck Theatre, Hayes on Sunday September 18 at 8pm.
