Society appeals for help in preserving village green

Posted by Graham Spence on Aug 11, 09 02:23 PM in Useful Info

THE Isleworth Society are appealing for help to secure the preservation of a village green.

The society prepared and submitted to Hounslow Council a proposal to formally register The Green in North Street, which would more firmly secure prevention of any development there in the future.

Secretary of the society, Christine Diwell, said: "No one, so far as is known, is suggesting that the Green is in imminent danger of being concreted over.

"However who knows what might happen in the longer term?"

Before proceeding with formal registration the council have asked for more evidence of continual usage for 20 years or more.

The Isleworth society are appealing for anyone who may have any press cuttings or photographs of events held on this patch of land to use as proof.

They also want people to send them written recollections of events, preferably including dates.

Please send any useful evidence to The Isleworth Society, 2 Lynton Close, Isleworth, TW7 7ET.

Any photographs will be returned to their owners.

We'd like to hear from you.
