David Jones, the furniture maker who made headlines by building a Viking boat in his Isleworth garden in 2005, is giving a talk this Saturday.
Mr Jones built Lille Draken, a 22ft replica of the Gokstad, to aid his research into the sails of the 1066 invasion craft, as seen on the Bayeux tapestry.
Outstanding students were recognised at West Thames College's annual Student Awards Ceremony.
Identifying not only those that achieve academic excellence, the awards which were held at the Hounslow Civic Centre last Thursday, also recognised students who have overcome difficulties in order to succeed, or gone out of their way to help others.
