Thieves risk patients' lives
Ignorant thieves risked patients lives stealing cabling worth just £50 from West Middlesex Hospital.
The metal cabling was stolen from the hospital's emergency generator which provides back-up electricity for one of the operating theatres when maintenance work is undertaken.
The theft left the generator out of order for a whole five hours on October 11, which could have led to tragedy had there been a power cut.
Medical Director Sr Andrew Winning said: "This selfish act could have put patients' lives at risk. We deplore this type of antisocial behaviour."
While the thieves qould have received just £50 selling the cables for scrap metal, the damage will set the hospiatl back £4,000.
Dr Winning said: "I am relieved this incident did not cause any harm to anyone and would like to reassure our patients that all services are back to normal."
No arrests have been made in connection with the theft. If you have information contact Hounslow Police on 020 8247 6160
