Napoleon-1.jpgFormer rap star Mutah Deale visited West Thames College to talk about the dangers of relating rap music to violence and crime

Previously a member of legendary rap artist Tupac Shakur's group, Outlawz, Mutah has now reverted to islam and travels the globe as a motivational speaker.

Mutah said: "What I do now is all about opening the hearts and minds of the youth of today, they need to understand that there is another way to life than street life."

The event on Wednesday September 24 was organised with the cooperation of the Prevent and Engage team at Hounslow police station.

Poonam Gill, Student Enrichment and Activities Coordinator at West Thames College, said, "It was a really positive experience to hear from a man who has turned his life around and is now influencing young people across the UK.

"Our students responded really well to him and asked questions about his upbringing and what he did to change his life. It was an inspirational talk with a level of honesty that all young people should hear."

PC Adam Garcia, PET liaison link with the college said: "This event clearly demonstrated the benefits of working in partnership with West Thames College and is a perfect example of the far-reaching consequences of carrying a knife and gang related violence."

We'd like to hear from you.
