Peace award for Worton Estate
Members of the Worton Estate DofE scheme today found out they have ben shortlisted for a 2008 Peace Award.
The Isleworth scheme saw a group of young people make efforts to clean up their local area as part of their Duke of Edinburgh award.
The clean-up has already received a bronze award from the Capital Clean-Up campaign for being an "outstanding project."
The awards will be presented tonight at the Royal Garden Hotel, with scheme organisers, PC Mike James and estate resident Mrs Kim Dobson going down hoping to collect an award.
PC James said: "I'm very proud. It's been so succesful, there is no longer any rubbish and the area looks so much better. Everyone involved has done so well to make the estate a better place to live in."
Joining Mike and Kim, are Bridgette Klempner, from the Payback team, Schools Officer, Phil Beal and Isleworth councillors, Phil Andrews and Paul Fisher.
Paul Fisher said: "This is extremely well deserved and I along with all residents of Isleworth wish them all the best."
