Families angry at slow maintenance work
Families are furious that a housing company ignored their pleas for the safety of their homes to be improved for a full eight weeks.
Residents of Osterley Chase in Wood Lane, Isleworth, moved into their brand new accommodation on April 21, only to find that none of the windows had safety locks on them.
Even after hundreds of phone calls to building company, Crest Nicholson, they remained that way for over two months.
Mum of two, Claire Gill said: "None of the building's windows had safety catches on, they just opened all the way out. I was really concerned for the safety of my six-year-old daughter.
"The other day I caught her leaning right out of her bedroom window, it's terrifying to think what could have happened to one of the children in the block if we hadn't threatened them with the papers."
Families were especially frantic after the death of 10-year-old Christian Castano, who fell from a tower block in Kensington on May 31, because of windows without safety catches.
Only after the threat of contacting the Hounslow Chronicle, did Crest Nicholson send over a team of builders to sort out the problem.
Claire said: "I have never seen those builders move so fast. I also had my phone call returned from the woman at Crest Nicholson, who hasn't got back to me in weeks."
